I am originally from the rural Blue Ridge area of Virginia and began my teaching career as a substitute there in 1991.  I began teaching in Maryland in 1996 and transferred to FCPS in 1998.

I am a big fan of post-modernist painting and sculpture, glassblowing and also cultural crafts such as ceramics, textiles, and jewelry/metalsmithing.

I love to travel abroad, gardening and working in my painting studio.  I am also an avid animal rights activist as well.

STUDENT GALLERY:

"Look Beyond the Window" Still Life Perspective Drawings:  Art I:
Students contemplated the question: "What do you see beyond the window?" All students made a drawing from the still life in class, then used skills that they learned in our perspective unit to create a view that they imagined in the window.

Landscape Pastel Drawings:  Drawing & Painting I:

All works were created through a series of exercises in perspective study and shading techniques.  Students chose a place or combined several landscapes that they found to be beautiful for their final composition.
